In several provinces of Algeria, a new generation of eco-citizens is being trained in schools. Eco-clubs led by motivated students are springing up, with the mission of raising awareness among their peers about environmental issues.

In Blida, El-Kawthar High School has set up a waste sorting campaign in partnership with a local recycling company. In Algiers, a group of students from Ibn Khaldoun middle school organizes monthly workshops on making compost from organic waste collected in the cafeteria.

These initiatives enable young people to get involved in protecting the environment in a practical way, while developing their team spirit, sense of responsibility, and creativity. Their actions are often shared on social media, inspiring other schools to follow suit.

Beyond their local impact, these clubs show that with limited resources but a lot of determination, it is possible to take action for a greener future.

More and more Algerian women are establishing themselves as key players in environmental change. Through local cooperatives, NGOs, and citizen initiatives, they are leading concrete projects to combat pollution, improve waste management, and raise public awareness.

In Tizi Ouzou, a women’s association has launched a weekly clean-up operation in the peri-urban forests, mobilizing dozens of participants every Sunday. In Oran, an entrepreneur has developed a service to collect used cooking oil from restaurants and convert it into biodiesel.

Their commitment goes far beyond symbolic action: it is a structured, sustainable movement rooted in the reality on the ground. These women are becoming role models for younger generations, proving that it is possible to combine local action, a solidarity economy, and environmental impact.

On our platform, we highlight these inspiring stories to promote their work and create synergies between committed actors.
